Caleb Williams To Bears A Lock? Insider Openly Says Yes

Top insiders like Adam Schefter, Tom Pelissero, and Ian Rapoport have said the Chicago Bears will need serious compensation to move off the #1 pick this year. Expectations are that they plan to stay put and take a quarterback. Yet none of them have been willing to go all the way and state Caleb Williams is the pick. They have said he is the heavy favorite. Others like Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and J.J. McCarthy are still in the mix but need to make up a lot of ground quickly.

Well, at least one insider wasn’t afraid to give a straight answer. Benjamin Allbright of KOA Colorado is among the most well-connected people in the business. He stated, without beating around the bush, that the Bears have made their decision. Williams will be their next quarterback.

Allbright never makes statements like this until he’s sure. His track record for accuracy is impressive. This means the upcoming combine and private visits are nothing more than confirming the information they have. Williams will hear his name called at #1 this April if he doesn’t raise any red flags with his personality. The only way it doesn’t happen is if the QB himself tries to force his way to a different team or the Bears get a ridiculous trade offer.

The Bears going with Caleb Williams isn’t a huge surprise.

He’s been the presumptive favorite to go #1 in this draft for two years. He burst onto the scene as a freshman at Oklahoma in 2021, then after transferring to USC, he won a Heisman in 2022. While last season wasn’t as explosive, he still had another great year. His mixture of arm strength, accuracy, mobility, and playmaking instincts are rare. Teammates and coaches haven’t had a bad thing to say about him. The only knocks on him are his shorter height and his tendency to hold the ball too long on drops.

Nobody would shake their head in bewilderment if the Bears took Caleb Williams. Quite the opposite. It’s a no-brainer for most. If it is a lock, as Allbright says, the other order of business for GM Ryan Poles is figuring out what to do with Justin Fields. A trade is most likely. Multiple teams have already been mentioned as potential landing spots. Movement on that front should start after the combine in early March. Once that is done, the Bears will start a new era at quarterback. Hopefully, one that finally has success.
