LeBron James Joins Sports World in Celebrating Caitlin Clark’s Historic Passing of Pete Maravich

Caitlin Clark stands alone.

On Sunday, Iowa basketball superstar Clark scored the 3,668th point of her collegiate career against Ohio State, putting her ahead of Pete Maravich on the all-time Division I scoring list for men’s and women’s basketball.

While Clark’s historic shot to pass Kelsey Plum came in dramatic fashion from far beyond the three-point line, this bucket came with a bit less fanfare, with Clark draining a shot from the free throw line just before halftime against the Buckeyes.

Clark’s basket was celebrated across the sports world, by fellow superstars, brand partners and networks alike.

LeBron James, who made some scoring history of his own on Saturday night by becoming the first NBA player to reach 40,000 points, was quick to congratulate Clark on her achievement.

The Indiana Fever, who hold the first pick in the coming WNBA draft and have not been subtle about their intention of selecting Clark, also joined in the fun.

The Pacers followed suit.

Tennis legend Billie Jean King also put out a message congratulating Clark.

So did Nike and State Farm, two brands that already have relationships with Clark and seem keen on following her to the WNBA.

Jake from State Farm had some personalized gear to celebrate the occasion.

Clark finished the day with 35 points, six rebounds, nine assists, and three steals as the No. 6 Hawkeyes pulled out a 93–83 victory over the No. 2 Buckeyes, ending Ohio State’s 15-game winning streak.

Clark currently boasts 3,685 career points.

With the Big Ten tournament and March Madness approaching, some of the biggest shots of Clark’s collegiate career are still to come.
