Kawhi Leonard mysteriously left the arena after suffering an injury during a Clippers loss

Kawhi Leonard was reportedly so uncomfortable that he needed to go home.

L.A. Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard suffered an unfortunate injury during a loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night.

Leonard was listed on the pre-game injury report with left groin soreness. After logging 12 minutes against the Timberwolves, the two-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player was ruled out for the remainder of the game due to back spasms.

He exited the match following the back spasms as the Clippers eventually squandered a 22-point lead. Leonard reportedly left the arena in Los Angeles following the injury as well. Here is how it unfolded on TNT’s broadcast of the game:

Ohm Youngmisuk provided more details about where Leonard went after the injury (via ESPN):

“The Clippers said Leonard was suffering from thoracic spasms. According to a source, Leonard went home to rest rather than sit in discomfort at the arena.”

The spasms reportedly made it painful for Leonard to sit, per The Athletic. Meanwhile, according to Shams Charania, he was “so uncomfortable” that is best for him to go home.

Leonard has previously sat in a team suite, rather than on the bench with his teammates, during other injuries in his career.

Before this injury, Leonard was enjoying one his healthiest and most impressive campaigns on the court in recent memory. It is unclear if Leonard will join his team on their upcoming road trip.
