Kyle Pitts joked he wants 'targets every game' from new Falcons QB Kirk Cousins in possible jersey swap

It sure sounds like Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts is way more interested in catching passes than trading NFL jersey numbers with new quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Cousins made his four-year contract with Falcons official on Wednesday, and he talked about a possible jersey swap with Pitts during his introductory press conference.

Pitts has the No. 8 jersey in Atlanta, which has historically been Cousins’ number in his football career. It makes a number swap possible, which Cousins said he wanted to make sure to compensate Pitts fairly for if it went down.

According to the new Atlanta quarterback, Pitts joked with Cousins that he “just wants targets every game.”

That has to be music to the ears of fantasy managers who have been frustrated with how the Falcons’ top offensive players have been utilized as of late, particularly Pitts after his 1,000-yard rookie season in 2021.

While you can never project just how these things will go entirely, it feels safe to say that the Falcons will throw the ball with more success under Kirk Cousins and new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson than they did with the run-focused Arthur Smith offense.

That may means that Pitts becomes a much more valuable option for fantasy teams this fall, particularly in the red zone where Atlanta has struggled to get him involved in a major way during his career.

The real number to watch for Pitts changing will hopefully for his fantasy managers be how many touchdowns he scores in a season.
