8 of the riskiest signings in NFL free agency that could backfire quickly

The Eagles weren't the only NFL team to take a huge (and unnecessary) risk in free agency.

Actively participating in NFL free agency does not come without its risks when you start throwing around money. There’s a very good reason that a lot of teams usually only use the open-market period to fill in some depth and sand over minor holes while focusing on the draft as a foundation. There are almost too many players to count, too many horror stories who got the bag and then cratered production-wise before petering out accordingly.

Call it an educated guess, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the same thing happen after 2024 NFL free agency.
