Ravens’ Derrick Henry Has Strong Message for Doubters Heading Into Ninth Season

Newly signed Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry may be heading into his ninth NFL season, but he still believes he has a lot to prove on the field.

Running backs notoriously are known to fall off when they reach the later part in their careers. But, at 30 years old, Henry said he thinks “age is nothing but a number” and he’s preparing to prove any doubters wrong in 2024.

“I feel like the same Derrick Henry,” Henry told Tom Pelissero on Thursday’s episode of NFL Network’s The Insiders. “I know the numbers might look a little different, but I’m excited for this opportunity, excited to prove myself, excited to help this offense and this team. Let ‘em keep talking. Let ‘em keep watching. We’ll see what happens when September comes. But I’ll be working until then.”

Henry has been named to four Pro Bowls in his career, all coming from the past five seasons excluding 2021 when he missed most the season with injury.

He signed a two-year, $16 million deal with the Ravens on Tuesday after playing his first eight NFL seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
