Nakagawa and Nonaka priced as favourites

The UK bookies have once again priced up some bouts in Japan for this weekend.

The most notable of the two bouts takes place in Tokyo and is the chief support bout for the "WHO'S NEXT DYNAMIC GLOVE on U-NEXT" show. The bout in question will see WBO Asia Pacific Super Flyweight champion Kenta Nakagawa (24-4-1, 12) [中川健太] defending his title against Tetsuro Ohashi (11-3-1, 2) [大橋哲朗] at Korakuen Hall.

The bookies, who surprisingly haven’t touched the main event of the card, have Nakagawa as the favourite, and is best priced at 1/5, whilst Ohashi is 5/1 and the draw is available at 20/1. The “Total rounds” market for the bout has been set at 10.5 rounds, with the over priced at 1/7 and the under at 9/2.

As well as the bout in Tokyo, we also get a regional title bout at  Sangyo Shinko Center in Sakai, where  we’ll see Yuki Nonaka (37-12-3, 11) [野中悠樹] face former world champion Sam Soliman (49-18-1, 19) in a bout for the vacant OPBF Super Middleweight title.

With both men being well past the typical prime for fighters, with Nonaka being 46 and Soliman being 50, this is a bit of a weird fight, even more so when you consider Soliman was himself a late replacement for the bout. Notably the bookies seem to feel the age and the short notice nature of Nonaka taking the bout will be against him here, despite his higher level of accomplishment and experience. The Aussie is best priced as a 198/100 under-dog, whilst Nonaka is 4/9, with the draw available at 16/1.

The bout doesn’t just have a “To Win” market, but also a Total rounds market, set at 10.5 rounds, with the over priced at 2/7 and the under at 11/4.
