Sky Sports commentator apologises as he admits he was not even watching Premier League clash he was covering

GARY NEVILLE admitted that he was not watching Liverpool’s win over Fulham despite being on commentary.

The pundit was on duty as the Reds ran out 3-1 winners over the Cottagers at Craven Cottage.

Neville, 49, however, did not speak during the final five minutes of the match as he was distracted.

The Manchester United legend was instead following his former side’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City.

The Red Devils had looked to have sealed their spot before a late three-goal comeback from the Championship side forced extra time.

Victor Torp thought he had completed the fairytale for Coventry, only for Haji Wright to have been judged offside by VAR in the 121st minute.

Man United went on to win the tie on penalties and Neville had his attention on the action at Wembley.

He apologised on Sky Sports after the full time whistle at Craven Cottage.

He said: “I’m sorry there was only Peter Drury actually watching Liverpool and Fulham for the last five minutes.

“I was like this up in the commentary box [hunched over], I don’t think I spoke.”

Liverpool beat Fulham 3-1 thanks to goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota.

Timothy Castagne netted a consolation goal for Marco Silva‘s side.

The result has boosted Liverpool’s Premier League title challenge as they are now equal on points with leaders Arsenal.

Manchester City remain the favourites for the title, as they are only one point behind with a game in hand.

Man Utd are LUCKY to be seventh in the table... one particular stat is terrible, say Dave Kidd

By Dave Kidd

THE frightening thing about Manchester United’s season is that they should really be LOWER than seventh in the Premier League.

Even during their current run of one win in seven league matches, United’s results have been better than their performances.

Erik ten Hag’s team deserved to lose each of their last three drawn games against Brentford, Liverpool and Bournemouth.

On goal difference, United are ninth in the league, while only seven teams have scored fewer than their 47 goals.

And if we give any credence to ‘expected points’, then that stat would have them 15th in the table.

If Ten Hag’s men lose Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final to Championship side Coventry, it should not come as a major surprise.
