Thunder Rout Pelicans to Take 2-0 Series Lead

The Oklahoma City Thunder shot 59 percent from the field, made 14 three-pointers and led by as many as 34 points on their way to a 124-92 win over New Orleans in Game 2 of their first round NBA Playoffs series on Wednesday night in downtown Oklahoma City.

The win was the second largest playoff win in Thunder history, behind a 38-point win over Dallas in 2016.

It was the third most points OKC has scored in a playoff game in regulation as well.

All five OKC starters scored in double figures, with three scoring at least 21 points.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led all scorers with 33 points, with Chet Holmgren scoring 26 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field.

Jalen Williams had 21 points, with Luguentz Dort adding 15 points and Josh Giddey 13.

The Thunder used an 11-2 run in the first quarter to take the lead for good and led 13 after both the first and second quarters.

In the third quarter, OKC stretched the lead and it grew even more in the fourth quarter.

The Pelicans were led by 19 points from Jonas Valunciunas.

The Thunder lead the series two games to none, their first 2-0 lead in a playoff series since a 3-0 series lead over Houston in 2013.

OKC is 4-0 in series in which they lead 2-0.

Game 3 is Saturday in New Orleans at 2:30 pm.
