Kentucky Derby weather update: Scattered storms in race day forecast

This Saturday’s Kentucky Derby could be a pretty sloppy one and we’re not just talking about the infield parties.

The early weather forecast in Louisville is calling for scattered thunderstorms with rain early in the day, per Weather.com. Here’s what the experts are saying:

Rain showers in the morning with scattered thunderstorms arriving in the afternoon. High near 80F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%. Scattered thunderstorms in the evening with a few showers possible late. Low 63F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.

Keep in mind, the Derby will go on rain or shine, so be prepared to pack an extra umbrella or poncho to protect your fanciest hats. As for the race itself, a muddy track should make a huge difference as bets start rolling in.
