The Cannes Film Festival got underway on May 14 with actors and directors and stars heading to the south of France for some sun and some new movies. While celebrities descended upon the red carpet for the festival’s opening ceremony and first premiere — Le Deuxieme Acte (The Second Act) — no one captured more attention than Messi.

Messi the Dog skyrocketed in popularity after his breakout role in the Oscar-nominated film Anatomy of a Fall last year. He was the subject of a handful of bits with Jimmy Kimmel at the Academy Awards, and now he’s walking the carpet in Cannes.
