Tank vs. Martin weigh-in results: Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin on weight, share final intense faceoff

Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin face off

Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin is official.

Davis and Martin battle it out for the WBA lightweight title on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. At their official weigh-ins on Friday, both fighters made weight, with “Tank” coming in at 133.4 pounds and Martin one pound heavier at 134.4 pounds.

The tension between Davis and Matin grew exponentially over the course of fight week, and after both made weight, that only continued as the two shared an intense faceoff, jawing back and forth with each other. Martin was especially fired up, speaking heatedly on the microphone afterward.

“We just both ready. We’re ready for tomorrow. I’m stepping on his ass tomorrow, period,” Martin exclaimed.

“I love [being the underdog]. I’m so happy that there are so many people in this arena sleeping on me. It’s a blessing. I’m a dog and I’m coming out on top. I don’t care who he is, I’m coming out on top.”

Davis was more subdued in his final pre-fight interview, saying the heated faceoff was just about “getting in his head” before then showing off a backflip to the fans in attendance.

In the co-main event, David Benavidez faces Oleksandr Gvozdyk for the WBC interim light heavyweight title, and both men successfully hit the scales at 174.2 pounds. Benavidez is a two-time WBC super middleweight champion making his return to the light heavyweight division after nearly 10 years, and “El Monstruo” had a message for Gvozdyk ahead of their fight.

“You can see an even more destructive ‘Monster’ in the ring,” Benavidez said. “I’m going for the knockout. ‘The Monster’ always goes for the knockout. That’s what I’m going to get this Saturday.”
