2024 NBA mock draft 2.0: A consensus shows experts project a new player at No. 1 overall

With the NBA Finals in the rearview mirror, our focus is shifting entirely to the 2024 NBA Draft.

We have had several changes since our last consensus mock draft published last month, including the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago as well as the early entry withdrawal deadlines. Now that we know who exactly is in this class and who will return to college, the order is beginning to shape up with new rumors and intel dropping every day.

Since our last update, Zaccharie Risacher has jumped over Alex Sarr into the No. 1 overall position.

Reed Sheppard (Kentucky) has risen from No. 6 overall to No. 3 overall and Stephon Castle (UConn) has improved from No. 8 overall to No. 4 overall. Others on the rise include Tristan da Silva (No. 20 to No. 16) and Baylor Scheierman (No. 35 to No. 29).

Meanwhile, lead guards Rob Dillingham (No. 4 to No. 11) and Nikola Topic (No. 2 to No. 12) have fallen due to reported injuries of varying severity.

To get a sense of where prospects stand during the pre-draft process as of right now, we surveyed all of the leading mock drafts to provide a general consensus as of right now. For this exercise, we’re using my latest mock along with mocks from:

Note that this order gives a better sense of the range of a prospect rather than a team fit, and it is based on consensus rankings and not just our own opinion.
