Come on Kieran Shoemark, now is the time for you to shine at Royal Ascot

TWO Breeders’ Cup smashers go head to head on day two of Royal Ascot in a right old corker for the Group 1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes.

Auguste Rodin, the dashing Breeders’ Cup Turf hero, tackles Inspiral, the late-thrusting Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf heroine in a mouthwatering clash live on ITV Racing.

The trip, over a mile and a quarter, is the key factor.

Derby winner Auguste Rodin has landed a big prize at this distance, taking the 2023 Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

But did his defeat to the absent White Birch last time suggest he needs further for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore?

Inspiral is a five-time Group 1 winner over a mile. But she relished this amount of ground when picking up Warm Heart at Santa Anita.

As a winner of the Fillies’ Mile as a youngster it’s quite possible only her class has pulled her through over shorter.

I’m in the Inspiral camp, and what a win it would be for Kieran Shoemark, now the main rider for John & Thady Gosden.

Especially with their former No1 Frankie Dettori watching in a restaurant somewhere at the track. Come on Kieran.

Day two begins with the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes for juveniles over five furlongs. Anything can happen here.

MISS RASCAL is owner-bred and made an eye-catching debut at Newmarket when running on from off the pace.

The Paul and Oliver Cole-trained hope was a different animal second time when blasting out at this track and making all in a maiden.

She looks very fast and useful and the Cole team know how to land Royal Ascot juvenile events.

The Group 2 Queen’s Vase Stakes is for three-year-olds over a mile and three quarters.

BIRDMAN looks a very strong young stayer and is bred to go on this fast ground. Both sire and dam enjoyed good to firm going.

The Jessica Harrington-trained runner is unbeaten in two starts and having stayed well when landing a Cork maiden then battled well to score in a Listed event at Navan.

Could we have a repeat winner in the Group 2 in the Duke of Cambridge for fillies and mares over a mile.

I want to take on Laurel who hasn’t been working well. She can obviously win, but will look for something at longer odds.

I really like the defending champion ROGUE MILLENNIUM who was tackling Group 1 company at the end of last season for Tom Clover. Now in the hands of Joseph O’Brien.

A big handicap in the Royal Hunt Cup over a mile. James Doyle rides BESHTANI who has quite a high handicap mark but must have an eachway chance after a fine second at Epsom during the Derby meeting.

The winner of that race has scored again since and as a lightly raced animal there could be more to come

The Kensington Palace Stakes, a handicap over a mile, is tough.

TWIRLING is interesting for Simon and Ed Crisford with Ryan Moore riding for the Tabor team.

A winner on the artificial last season, my hope beat the reposing Roarin’ Success at Doncaster last time. The ground is the worry.

Finale time in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes for juveniles over 5f.

Eve Johnson Houghton has some decent cards to deal this week and none more so than PONT NEUF who is unbeaten in two starts. Has been a bit quirky. An eachway chance. Good luck!
