Darren Till rebooks boxing debut at an event called Social Knockout 3 ... against who now?

What in the world is Darren Till doing with his combat sports career?

Till, who was originally supposed to make his boxing debut against former champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., has rebooked his boxing debut from way out of left field as the former UFC welterweight title challenger will compete this Saturday at an event called Social Knockout 3 in Dubai against a guy named Moh Mutie who, according to Tapology, is nicknamed “The Palestinian Gorilla” and has a 2-2-1 record in MMA.

The announcement came out of nowhere Monday in the wake of news last week that former UFC fighter Uriah Hall would replace Till to fight Chavez on July 20 as part of the undercard of Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry.

It’s been a weird turn of events how we got here with Till, who was supposed to meet Chavez on the undercard of the original Paul vs. Mike Tyson event July 20. After that fight fell off because of a Tyson health scare, Till expressed frustration at the idea of having to wait until the postponed Nov. 15 date to take on Chavez given he hasn’t competed since November 2022, which is why the Hall replacement news was so surprising.

So now Till has gone from a fight against a respected name in boxing on the original Paul vs. Tyson event to fighting a complete no-name at an event headlined by a pair of “social media stars” in the Middle East. That’s where we are now in the career of Darren Till, who was once considered the next big thing in the UFC.

Strange.
