Daniel Jacobs has designs on becoming a three-time world champion before he calls it quits.

Daniel Jacobs will fight for the first time in a couple of years when he takes on Shane Mosley Jr this weekend, and he spends some time talking to Fight Hype about his thoughts on his return and his intention in making another run at a major world title.

Jacobs on how he’s feeling heading back to the ring after a couple of years away

“Just excited to be back, soaking it all in. I’m a fan of the sport so seeing some of these fans excited to see us guys come back and perform gives me motivation for fight night.”

On Mosley Jr showing him a lot of respect in the build up

“I mean, real recognize real and so sometimes you have to give respect when it’s due. I do know that he’s most likely trained 100% and so I’m ready for the best Shane Mosley yet regardless of the respect that he shows outside, which could sometimes speak volumes. But at the end of the day you never know, things change in the ring...as a true professional I know that I have a game plan come Saturday night.”

On how he plans to work his way back into title contention

“Not overlooking this fight because this is a good fight for me at this particular point, coming back against a young, hungry up-and-coming future champion. He’s had a long winning streak, looked very impressive against Gabe Rosado so if I can go in there and look really good maybe even get a knockout, it’ll put me right back into that position because my ultimate goal is to be a champion in another division but a three-time overall.”
