Arsenal blow as Gunners fall below WEST HAM in Uefa club rankings… but remain above Tottenham
UEFA have released their latest club coefficient rankings ahead of the 2024/25 season.
But the table makes bad reading for Arsenal, who have been ranked below West Ham.
Clubs competing in Uefa competitions – the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League – have a coefficient calculated based on their performances over the past five seasons.
The last two Champions League winners, Real Madrid and Manchester City remain top dogs.
However, it is beaten quarter-finalists Man City who are top dogs in the current rankings, four points ahead of Spanish giants Madrid.
Bayern Munich and Liverpool are ranked third and fourth respectively, with the German side on 108.000 points and the Reds on 96.000 points,
Serie A side Roma surprisingly take the fifth-place spot after back-to-back finals in the Conference League and Europa League under former boss Jose Mourinho and a semi-final appearance under Daniele De Rossi.
Paris Saint-Germain rank sixth ahead of Villarreal in seventh.
Beaten Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund come in eight place, with Chelsea and Inter Milan then making up the top ten.
Bayer Leverkusen are next in 11th spot, before there is a three-way tie below them.

FC Porto, RB Leipzig and Manchester United have all recorded a coefficient of 70,000, though it is the Red Devils who are ranked lowest in 14th.
Benfica then separate them from 16th-place West Ham.
Atletico Madrid and Barcelona rank 17th and 18th respectively, before last season’s Champions League quarter-finalists Arsenal are in 19th.
Newly-crowned Europa League Champions Atalanta then complete the top 20.
A host of big names miss out on a top 20 spot but do make the top 30 including Napoli, AC Milan, Juventus, Sevilla, Ajax, and Rangers.
Tottenham are the next British club to feature in the rankings, but do not appear until number 45 with a coefficient of 38.000.
How Uefa club coefficient is calculated
The club coefficients are based on the results of clubs competing in the five previous seasons of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League. The rankings determine the seeding of each club in relevant UEFA competition draws.
Clubs’ coefficients are determined EITHER the sum of all points won in the previous five years OR the association coefficient over the same period, whichever is the higher.
The coefficient of a club is calculated by adding the total number of points it obtains in a given season in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League.
A club’s five-season coefficient is the cumulative total of the previous five seasons’ coefficients, or 20% of its association’s five-season association coefficient, whichever is higher.
Points awarded each season are in accordance with the relevant competition regulations for that specific season, so the following apply only to the awarding of points in the 2021/22 season.
Points are awarded as follows:
UEFA Champions League points
2 – All wins from group stage onwards
1 – All draws from group stage onwards
4 – Group stage bonus participation
4 – Round of 16 bonus participation
1 – Each round clubs reach from the round of 16
*Points are not awarded for elimination in qualifying, since those clubs move to the UEFA Europa League and may be awarded points for participation in that competition or the UEFA Conference League.
UEFA Europa League points
2 – All wins from group stage onwards (except knockout round play-offs)
1 – All draws from group stage onwards (except knockout round play-offs)
4 – Group winners
2 – Group runners-up
1 – Each round clubs reach from the round of 16
*All teams are guaranteed a minimum 3 points in the UEFA Europa League group stage (not added to points actually obtained). Points are not awarded for elimination in qualifying, since those clubs move to the UEFA Europa Conference League and may be awarded points for participation in that competition.
UEFA Europa Conference League points
1 – Awarded to each club eliminated in the first qualifying round
1.5 – Awarded to each club eliminated in the second qualifying round
2 – Awarded to each club eliminated in the third qualifying round
2.5 – Awarded to each club eliminated in the play-offs
2 – All wins from group stage onwards (except knockout round play-offs)
1 – All draws from group stage onwards (except knockout round play-offs)

1 – Each round clubs reach from the semi-finals
*All teams are guaranteed a minimum 2.5 points in the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage (not added to points actually obtained).
Association coefficient calculation
Points are awarded as follows:
2 – All wins from group stage (UCL, UEL, UECL)
1 – All wins in qualifying and play-off matches (UCL, UEL, UECL)
1 – All draws from group stage (UCL, UEL, UECL)
0.5 – All draws in qualifying and play-off matches (UCL, UEL, UECL)
4 – Group stage bonus participation (UCL, UEL)
4 – Round of 16 bonus participation (UCL)
4 – Group winners (UEL)
2 – Group runners-up (UEL)
2 – Group winners (UECL)
1 – Group runners-up (UECL)
1 – Each round clubs reach from the round of 16 (UCL, UEL)
1 – Each round clubs reach from the semi-finals (UECL)
Penalty shoot-outs do not count.
For matches originally foreseen to be two legs (home and away) but reduced to a single leg, the calculation of coefficient points per match will be adapted as follows:
Three points for a win (in regular time or extra time)
Two points to each team for a draw (after extra time)
One point for a loss (in regular time or extra time)
Leicester and Celtic rank at number 68 and 69 respectively.
Aston Villa, who could receive a big boost to their coefficient thanks to their upcoming Champions League participation, rank in 79th.
Brighton then come in directly above Newcastle, who are 81st.
The rankings also affect how clubs are seeded in Uefa draws for upcoming European competitions.
