Takayama forced to pull out of title defense
Earlier today it was announced that the Japanese Super Flyweight title bout, between defending champion Suzumi Takayama (8-0, 7) [高山 涼深] and domestic veteran Isao Aoyama (14-12-1, 4) [青山 功], set for the Ohashi Promoted "Lemino BOXING Phoenix Battle 119", on July 18th, has been cancelled.
The bout has had to be scrapped as Takayama has been suffering from acute gastroenteritis, which was diagnosed recently, following a poor training session. Following a training session Takayama was taken to hospital for a check up, where he was diagnosed with dehydration due to a virus and was told he would need two weeks of treatment.
The show will still go ahead as planned, and it remains a strong card, but it is a shame this bout has been cancelled at such short notice.
