Kasper Schmeichel ‘AGREES stunning Celtic transfer with goalkeeper to complete medical this weekend’

CELTIC are set to complete the signing of Kasper Schmeichel as the veteran ‘agrees’ to join the club.

The Denmark no1 is fresh off Euros duty and was rumoured to be in talks with Brendan Rodgers’ men.

But now he has ‘agreed’ to join Scottish champions Celtic with a medical booked this weekend, according to Sky Sports.

The 37-year-old remains his national side’s no1 as well as their captain and he played all four games in the Euros this summer, only conceding four goals.

In his side’s 2018 World Cup opener he set a new record for Denmark, going longer than his dad Peter for most time without conceding a goal.

He also earned a man of the match award for his performance in that game after he kept a clean sheet.

But at club level he has been unable to find anything long term after leaving Leicester City back in 2022.

He spent 11 years in the East Midlands, including three years with current Hoops boss Rodgers.

He captained the side in both of their trophy wins in the FA Cup Final against Chelsea and their Community Shield Final against Manchester City, keeping cleans sheets in both games.

But after leaving Leicester he only managed one season with French outfit Nice before moving to Belgian side Anderlecht on a one year deal.

But with Celtic holding the option to tie him down for an extra year next summer, he’ll be hoping to impress and make Parkhead his longest stay at a club in a number of years.

He has followed the same trajectory as the newly retired Joe Hart who also found a permanent club hard to come by before he moved to Glasgow.

And the former England no1 became a fans’ favourite, with the keeper revealing his new found admiration for the club upon an emotional farewell.
