Julio Cesar Chavez Jr returned with a win over Uriah Hall.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr made a victorious return to the ring tonight, beating former UFC star Uriah Hall over six rounds on the Jake Paul vs Mike Perry undercard.

Judges scored the fight 58-56, 59-55, and 59-55 for Chavez (54-6-1, 34 KO), with the latter two cards arguably a bit wide, but there probably won’t be much passion to argue about it at all since it just wasn’t a very good fight, though there were some boos when the decision was announced.

Chavez, 38, hadn’t fought since late 2021, and is now competing as a cruiserweight, which is about 40 lbs over his prime years fighting weight.

Hall falls to 1-1 in boxing, having previously beaten former NFL star Le’Veon Bell in 2022.

Fast Take: Chavez didn’t look good in this fight, and Hall doesn’t really have a boxing skill set. You might say Julio looked rusty, but it seemed more an issue of being tentative and a little nervous about possibly screwing up and losing, since there’s a very good chance that Chavez, with a win here, will be facing Jake Paul at some point, possibly as soon as November if/when the Mike Tyson thing falls apart again. The version of Chavez we saw tonight didn’t look like someone who would beat even Jake Paul.
