Patrick Mahomes launched an effortless deep pass to Xavier Worthy that makes a Chiefs 3-peat look like a lock

Patrick Mahomes with Xavier Worthy makes the Chiefs even scarier.

OK, I know it’s NFL training camp, and you can take some practice sequences with a grain of salt, but when have these Kansas City Chiefs ever lied to us? Chances are, if they play well during non-game time, then it’s going to translate when the results count.

That’s what makes Patrick Mahomes’ clear early chemistry with rookie speedster receiver Xavier Worthy so scary. The Chiefs are the two-time defending Super Bowl champions and somehow look even better with Worthy’s vertical element in their offense.

In camp practice on Sunday, Mahomes showed off a likely preview of what he and Worthy will do to opposing defenses every week when he completed an effortless deep pass on the run to one of his new favorite targets:

Again, I must remind everyone that these are the two-time defending Super Bowl champions. The Chiefs won a second straight championship despite rostering one of the worst receiving corps in pro football. Now they have Worthy (among other things), a receiver whose speed makes him tailor-made to play with Mahomes, the best quarterback in the sport.

To me, Kansas City virtually has no weaknesses. So, I know it’s really early, but now might be a great time to bet on some Chiefs’ futures for the first three-peat of the Super Bowl era.

Oddsmakers with BetMGM give the Chiefs +550 odds to win Super Bowl LIX this coming February. Those are the best of anyone, and I would probably even favor the Chiefs more after seeing recency bias clips like this fabulous completion to Worthy:

I have to reiterate — once more — that this is only training camp. But the Mahomes-Andy Reid Chiefs have seldom led me astray. If Worthy is as big of a component of their offense as I expect, everyone should get in while the getting is good.
