Oscar De La Hoya isn’t taking the WBC’s order of Shakur Stevenson vs William Zepeda too seriously.

This past week Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya took to social media to give some quick hit responses to a few topics, including a recent order from the WBC for William Zepeda to fight Shakur Stevenson, why he’s not interested in pursuing Stevenson in free agency, and why he’s not convinced there will be a Saudi takeover of boxing.

“Let’s start with the WBC ordering Shakur Stevenson vs. William Zepeda,” De La Hoya began. “Ordering? What does that mean? They ordered Canelo vs Benavidez like three years ago and that hasn’t happened. William will make his decision very soon and he has three other options.

“Shakur Stevenson, you’re a free agent, you’re a great fighter, great talent, but not for me. I believe that when somebody says ‘I’m not fighting for the public,’ I cannot promote (them).

“Now there’s a lot of rumors that the Saudi’s are going to take over boxing and buyout every single promoter. Well guess what? I haven’t been approached so don’t believe everything you read.”
