Fans left stunned at worst VAR offside line in history as they joke ‘absolutely NOT rigged’ – but all is not as it seems

FANS were in uproar after what appeared to be the worst VAR offside line in history.

However, even more eyebrows were raised when it was revealed that not everything was as it seemed.

The introduction of VAR into football has managed to cause controversy on an almost weekly basis.

Just last month Uefa AXED the blundering Argentinian ref who ignored Scotland’s penalty claim against Hungary – AND his VAR – at Euro 2024.

Back in May there was also an astonishing moment when a referee ignored VAR’s recommendation and refused to send players off following chaos on the pitch in Argentina.

And there looked to be even more chaos in the early hours of today as Puerto Cabello and Portuguese battled out a goalless draw in the Venezuelan league match.

With 87 minutes on the clock, the deadlock looked to have been broken when a cross from the left was met by the outstretched leg of a visiting attacker.

The celebrations were quickly cut-short due to an offside flag as play restarted.

Those tuning in to watch the game on the FutVe League broadcast were then shown a replay that saw a line drawn to indicate the offside.

But incredibly the line was completely diagonal, and it left some supporters watching on in complete disbelief at the “lack of professionalism” from VAR.

“He was offside in the fourth dimension,” joked one. 

Another said: “That line went all the way to the 6th floor.”

A third commented: “What a line. Ball couldve gone to someones flat and be headed in and it wouldve counted as a goal.”

As a fourth wrote tongue-in-cheek: “Absolutely NOT rigged!”

However, as fans continued to jump on X to vent their anger at the crooked line, others emerged to shed some light on it.

One person posted this explanation: “I think it is important to clarify that this was done by those in charge of the transmission and has nothing to do with the VAR.

“To the FutVe League broadcast directors, please don’t do it again. They display the product very badly.”

And another revealed: “Important information: There is currently no VAR in the Venezuelan league.”

While a third added: “This was done by the broadcaster, no var was in the game.”
