Eagle-eyed Man Utd fans spot huge change in Marcus Rashford’s game as they hail ‘the Ruud effect’

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have gushed about Marcus Rashford after seeing a glimpse of what they can expect in the upcoming season.

And some supporters think that his improvements could be down to new assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.

A clip of Rashford putting together some sharp one-touch passes and quick decision making has left United fans excited about the fast-approaching season.

Rashford, 26, played 45 minutes in United’s 2-1 pre-season friendly defeat at the hands of Arsenal in LA last week.

The video from the first half of the game shows Rashford drop deep to help the Red Devils string together a tricky counter-attack.

The 60-time England international falls back into his own defensive third where he become an outlet for players to play quick one-twos with.

The speedy passing helped Man Utd break through the lines of Arsenal’s midfield and defence, but the attack was ultimately fruitless after Amad Diallo hit his shot into the path of Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Despite no goal coming from the efforts of Erik ten Hag‘s side, fans are encouraged by what they are seeing – particularly from Rashford.

One wrote: “Rashford has often been criticised for taking too many touches and his decision-making.

“Every action here is ONE touch from him, feel like he’s benefiting from the new coaches.”

While another added: “Think he’ll have a big season this time round.”

A third commented: “Rashford’s going to shut everyone up this season.”

And a fourth attributed the new-look Rashford to new coach Van Nistelrooy, writing: “The Ruud effect kicking in.”

Rashford struggled for form last term, managing just seven Premier League goals in 33 appearances.

And his drop off in form saw him miss out on a spot in Gareth Southgate‘s England squad for Euro 2024 this summer.

But it looks as though the additions of Man Utd legend Van Nistelrooy and former Go Ahead Eagles manager Rene Hake to the Carrington coaching staff could be helping him return to his best.

There’s still time for him to continue to learn before United begin their season proper with the annual curtain raiser when they take on Man City in the Community Shield on August 10.

The Red Devils are still touring the United States and face Real Betis in San Diego next up before a friendly clash with Liverpool in South Carolina on Saturday night to round up their tour.
