Surprise Chicago Bears Undrafted Rookie Making Noise In Camp Battle
The Chicago Bears know they can’t reach the next level with only their high draft picks playing well. That is why they constantly leave the door open for late-round picks and especially undrafted free agents, to make an impression. That is how guys like Jack Sanborn and Tyson Bagent have found their way onto the roster. Both impacted crucial games to help the team win. All of that started in their first training camps. By making plays there, it paved the way to cracking the main roster. It appears another noteworthy name is creating some buzz. Meet Reddy Steward, everybody.
Steward was scooped up by the Chicago Bears in May.
It isn’t hard to see why. Across four years at Troy, he had nine interceptions, 32 pass defenses, and scored three defensive touchdowns. Translation: the guy got his hands on the football a lot. His instincts and ball skills stood out on tape a lot. He has 4.42 speed and doesn’t seem to shy away from contact. He played hard against the run, too. The primary issue teams seemed to have was his size. Not only is he 5’11, but also only 176 lbs. That is thin for the NFL level. Teams likely feared his body wouldn’t hold up to the hits, and he couldn’t handle bigger wide receivers. Apparently, that hasn’t stopped him from doing what he does best. The Chicago Bears want playmakers. He fits the bill.
