And while the Olympic village will be a buzzing atmosphere, there is one key piece of information they have to remember every single day.

That is the colour of their shirts.

Three-time Olympic champion Whitlock has confirmed all athletes receive a text the night before to let them know what they need to put on the following morning.

Speaking on Instagram, he said: “The Team GB rule that everyone follows every single day.

“Every night we get a message that tells us the colour of top that we need to wear for the next day.

“The tops are also displayed in reception when you walk through as a reminder of what colour it is for the day.

“We have a variety of different tops, but the most important thing is that we remain in the same colour.

“This ensures that wherever you go, whether you’re walking through the village, in the dining hall, in reception, in training venues, arenas, anywhere you are, that the whole team is unified and is one team.

“It’s a really good way to quickly recognise fellow team-mates in any Olympic environment.”

The revelation was much appreciated by Whitlock’s followers as they loved the insight.

One said: “I absolutely love these behind the scenes.”

While another added: “Fab! Love seeing these vids.”

A third replied: “Great to learn more about what goes on as I would’ve never guessed this! ❤

And a fourth responded: “Loving these videos! It’s why I love my club vest, one family! No matter where you will always know someone with the vest!”

Whitlock is defending his pommel horse title on Saturday having won Olympic gold in the event at both Rio and Tokyo.

The 31-year-old, who also claimed gold on the floor in 2016, is the most successful gymnast in British history with three golds and three bronze medals at the Olympic Games.
