Oklahoma State Hosts Media Day Ahead of Season

Stillwater, OK - Oklahoma State held their annual media day as they enter one of the favorites to win the Big 12 title in 2024.

Mike Gundy met the media for around 30 minutes hitting on a variety of topics. He was quick to call Edmond Santa Fe star Collin Oliver the "quintessential Cowboy" for all he's accomplished and done at OSU. Oliver is entering his senior season having seen action all four years of his college career.

On the offensive side of things, Gundy was asked about the transfer in of Gavin Freeman. The former Sooner and Heritage Hall star has quickly made a home in Stillwater and his head coach says he expects to be a factor in the offense this season. "He's done really well. Players have rallied around him. He seems to be comfortable here. He's a good addition for us. He's an interesting player. He ran 22 miles-per-hour in five games last year at this level, which is very unusual. He's got a lot of raw ability, (he) loves to play football, he's a former wrestler, he's an over 300-pound bencher. (He can) vertical jump 36 and a half inches and run 22 miles-per-hour in games last year, which means that he plays fast, not only in practice but in games. So, he's another guy that will jump in there for us at the slot position."

Another big topic is if Ollie Gordon can improve on what was a Doak Walker Award winning season. Gordon was pictured at practice mowing through a defender as he lost his helmet. A preview of what Gordon will face this season as teams look to key in on him. OSU offensive lineman Dalton Cooper was quick to say that their team has plenty of playmakers besides Ollie that others will have to prepare for as well.

OSU opens the season against South Dakota State on Saturday, August 31st inside Boone Pickens Stadium.
