Algeria boxer Imane Khelif calls for bullying at Olympics to stop: 'It can destroy people'

"It can destroy people, it can kill people's thoughts, mind and spirt."

As Algeria boxer Imane Khelif continues to compete for a medal in women’s boxing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, she’s had to endure so much awfulness as baseless questions were asked about her gender and that of fellow boxer, Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan.

Through it all, she’s thanked supporters and now, she’s spoken out in a video shared by the Associated Press that you can watch below.

Here’s what she said, via translation: “I send a message to all the people of the world, to uphold the Olympic principals … to refrain from bullying all athletes because it has effects, massive effects. It can destroy people, it can kill people’s thoughts, mind and spirt.”
