Arsenal vs Bayer Leverkusen preview
Arsenal return to the Emirates Stadium after their 10-day tour of the United States for a showdown with German champions Bayer Leverkusen.
And manager Mikel Arteta should have the remainder of his big-hitters back in contention following their exploits at Euro 2024.
Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, David Raya and France’s William Saliba joined back up with the squad at London Colney for training on Sunday.
Although their participation could be minimal ahead of Sunday’s final pre-season friendly against Lyon on Sunday.
It’s been a reasonably successful pre-season for the Gunners, who claimed wins over Bournemouth and Manchester United before a surprise 2-1 defeat to Liverpool having fielded a pretty strong XI.
Xabi Alonso’s side should intensify their pre-season preparations following a win over RW Essen and a 2-2 draw with French outfit Lens.
The Bundesliga winners kick-start their domestic campaign on August 17 with a Super Cup showdown against Stuttgart.
