United World Wrestling (UWW) President Nenad Lalovic informed IOA President PT Usha that the rules leading to Vinesh Phogat's disqualification from the 50 kg freestyle final for exceeding the weight limit by 100 grams cannot be changed retroactively. While expressing sympathy, Lalovic emphasized that the strict weigh-in protocols are designed to protect athletes' long-term health and are uniformly enforced. UWW acknowledged the IOA's appeal but confirmed that any rule changes would apply only to future events. Phogat has also appealed her disqualification to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
