Mason Greenwood could be joined by Premier League’s ‘most disliked player’ as Marseille line up shock transfer

NEAL MAUPAY has been tipped to make a shock transfer to Marseille.

The striker has earned the tag of the “most disliked player” in the Premier League for his on-off field antics.

Maupay, 28, became one of the great villains of the division last season as he wound up stars such as James Maddison and Scott McTominay.

The Frenchman spent the campaign on loan at former club Brentford from Everton.

He has since returned to the Toffees but was only named among the substitutes during the opening-day defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Even with the team falling 3-0 down, manager Sean Dyche instead turned to Beto and Iliman Ndiaye to try to turn the game around.

French outlet L’Equipe has now claimed that Maupay could bring an end to his time in English football.

The report claims that Ligue 1 giants Marseille are pursuing the striker before the transfer window shuts.

Roberto de Zerbi‘s side are keen to reinforce their attacking options after the injury to Faris Moumbagna.

It is suggested that the club would prefer a loan move for Maupay and that he would be keen on the switch.

Should Maupay make the jump from Goodison Park to the Orange Velodrome, he would link up with Mason Greenwood.

Marseille signed the forward earlier this summer from Manchester United in a deal worth over £30million.

The Englishman started life in France well, scoring a brace on his competitive debut.

Greenwood is not the only Premier League star to have arrived at the club this summer.

Tottenham ace Pierre-Emile Højbjerg moved to the club on loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent next summer.

The club had also been chasing Arsenal‘s Eddie Nketiah but instead opted to sign Elye Wahi from RC Lens.
