Fulham leapfrog Man Utd in race to sign Sander Berge and could KO Ten Hag’s transfer plans at the same time

FULHAM are reportedly on the verge of signing Sander Berge from Burnley.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Turf Moor in recent weeks, with Manchester United known to be interested.

United officials have been pushing to sign a new midfielder since the start of the transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte emerged as Erik ten Hag‘s top target, but he was deemed too expensive.

The Red Devils subsequently shifted focus to Berge, who became excited about the prospect of moving to Old Trafford.

However, Fulham have now swooped in to negotiate a deal with Burnley.

The Cottagers are close to signing Berge in a transfer worth £20million plus £5m in add-ons.

He is set to undergo a medical today having travelled to London.

Fulham have ended their pursuit of Man Utd midfielder Scott McTominay as a result.

Marco Silva’s side had a £20m bid for the Scotland international rejected earlier this month.

United officials decided to hold out for a fee between £25m and £30m.

Galatasaray were interested and had a £12m bid turned down last month.

Tottenham and West Ham were previously linked, with Napoli also in the picture.

However, McTominay is desperate to remain in the Premier League.
