Gallagher completed his long-awaited £34million move from Chelsea on Wednesday.

He has penned a five-year deal with the La Liga side through to the summer of 2029.

It comes after the deal had looked set to collapse after Chelsea’s move for Atletico star Samu Omorodion fell through.

However, after returning to England, Gallagher jetted back out to Madrid this week to complete the move, with Joao Felix re-joining the Blues in a separate deal.

Gallagher leaves Stamford Bridge after 16 years with the West London club.

He first joined the academy in 2008 before going on to make 95 first team appearances.

Across those matches, he scored 10 goals and provided a further 10 assists from midfield.

Following his arrival being announced, Gallagher was presented to supporters at their home stadium.

He appeared in his new Atletico shirt as he spoke on the pitch, even showing off his Spanish skills.

Gallagher told fans: “Hello, I don’t speak much Spanish. I am very happy. Aupa Atleti!”

The 24-year-old could make his debut as early as this weekend after training for the first time, with Atletico hosting Girona on Sunday.

Diego Simeone’s side began their campaign on Monday as they twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Villarreal.
