O’Sullivan went 5-1 down to Wilson but managed to bring it back to 5-4 after winning three successive frames.

However, despite his efforts it was not enough.

Wilson, who won his first World Snooker Championship back in May, progressed to the final as a result.

The 32-year-old will now face either Judd Trump or Daniel Wells in Sunday’s final.

The winner will pocket £177,000 while the runner-up takes home £76,000.

O’Sullivan claims £34,500 from the competition having reached the semi-finals.

The Rocket is back in action next week for the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters.

For the inaugural competition, 128 tour players will be joined by 16 wild cards selected by the Saudi Arabian Billard and Snooker Federation.
