Hiroto Kyoguchi-Vince Paras III set for October 13 in Yokohama

Hiroto Kyoguchi and Vince Paras will meet a third time to settle their stalemate on October 13 at Yokohama Budokan in Yokohama, Japan.

The unlikely trilogy was made possible after the Filipino flyweight contender Paras (21-2-1, 15 knockouts) pulled off the upset this past May, defeating the former two division champ Kyoguchi (18-2, 12 KOs) by unanimous decision in South Korea.

They had first met in 2018, with Paras knocking Kyoguchi down before Kyoguchi got off the canvas and won a unanimous decision to retain the IBF strawweight title.

“It was easy to make, Kyoguchi gave Vince the chance to avenge his loss. When Vince beat him last May in Korea, Kyoguchi asked for a  chance for a trilogy. I think it was right to also give him a chance to settle the score,” said Jim Claude Mananquil of Sanman Boxing, which promotes Paras.

“But I think Vince will beat him again. We requested for neutral officials for this one.”

Paras is trained by Benny Dela Pena at the Sanman Gym in his hometown of General Santos City, Philippines.

Paras, 25, is now 8-0-1 in his last nine bouts since losing back to back fights to Kyoguchi and Jonathan Taconing in 2018, while Kyoguchi is 2-2 in his last four bouts as the 30-year-old from Tokyo tries to get his career back on track after a seventh round stoppage loss in 2022 to Kenshiro Teraji in a junior flyweight unification bout.

The show will be promoted by Treasure Boxing.
