White Sox Recall Nick Nastrini From Triple-A

The White Sox recalled right-hander Nick Nastrini ahead of their series finale against the Texas Rangers and optioned left-hander Sammy Peralta to Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move.

Nastrini has made six starts this season but has yet to make it into the sixth inning. The White Sox No. 18 ranked prospect, accordion to MLB Pipeline, made his debut on April 15 against the Royals. He faired well allowing just two runs on three hits, with five strikeouts and a pair of walks.

The former fourth-round pick out of UCLA struggled to find consistency after his promising debut. In 24.2 innings of work, Nastrini has posted an 8.39 ERA with a 20.5 percent walk rate and a .322 expected slugging percentage against him. Since being sent down to the minors on June 8, Nastrini owns a 4.89 ERA and 1.63 WHIP with 54 strikeouts and 35 walks for the Charlotte Knights. Thursday will mark another opportunity for him to earn his first career win in the big leagues.

Peralta has struggled in his second season in Chicago. The 2019 18th-round pick has thrown just 15 innings for the White Sox this season, all of which have come out from the bullpen. In those nine appearances, he owns a 5.40 ERA with a 15.3 percent strikeout rate and a 9.7 percent walk rate.
