Aston Villa star Leon Bailey shows his class after being on wrong end of most ruthless act in football
LEON BAILEY has remained overwhelmingly positive about Aston Villa’s win over Bayern Munich despite being taken off just 33 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Unai Emery‘s men claimed a famous 1-0 victory over the Bundesliga giants on Wednesday night, replicating their 1982 European Cup final triumph.
Jhon Duran came off the bench to score yet again for Villa to ensure they maintain their perfect start to their European campaign.
But before the winning goal was scored, Bailey had been taken off for Ian Maatsen on the hour mark.
What made the substitution noteworthy was the fact he had only come on in the 27th minute due to an injury to Jacob Ramsey.
Taking a substitute off is widely regarded as one of the most brutal acts you can carry out as a manager.
But Emery had no problem doing it and was ultimately proven right as Villa went on to win the game.
And while Bailey will have been disappointed on a personal level to be hooked, he shared nothing but upbeat vibes on his social media.
Speaking on Instagram, he said: “What an atmosphere tonight, you fans were incredible!!
“Happy to be back in the Champions League, what a night! Big 3 points!!

Bailey has only started one of Villa’s six Premier League games so far this season – which came in a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal.
He has one assist in seven appearances, but could now be offered more opportunities if Ramsey is sidelined for some time.
