Ashton Jeanty bet his locs on a 2,000-yard season because he knows he's unstoppable

Ashton Jeanty ran for another 217 yards Saturday against Hawai’i, bringing the Boise State star’s total to 1,248 for the season.

Just another day at the office.

The performance kept Jeanty on pace to break Barry Sanders’ single-season record of 2,628 rushing yards. But there’s a more immediate goal the Heisman front-runner is chasing first: 2,000 yards.

Jeanty told ESPN’s SportsCenter he has a bet with teammate Mason Randolph that he’ll cut off his locs if he doesn’t reach 2,000 yards. However, if he does hit the milestone, Jeanty keeps his hair and Randolph has to get the running back’s final total tatted on him.

At this point, it’s more a question of when not if Jeanty will cross 2,000 yards, and what number exactly Randolph will have permanently stamped.

With an average of 208 yards per game, Jeanty only needs about four more games to cross 2,000. That lines up with Boise’s Nov. 16 game against San José State, and leaves a cushion of two more regular season games and a bowl game to get there.
