Sooners Trail Alabama After One Quarter

Oklahoma's football team trails Alabama 3-0 after one quarter at Owen Field in Norman on Saturday night.

Both teams had to punt on the first possession.

Oklahoma's second possession started with a 40-yard run by Xavier Robinson to the Alabama 35-yard line.

Three plays later, OU turned it over, as Taylor Tatum had the ball knocked out by Bray Hubbard and Deontae Lawson recovered for the Crimson Tide at their own 21-yard line.

Alabama appeared to have converted the turnover into a touchdown when Jalen Milroe passed to Ryan Williams for a 41-yard touchdown.

On replay review, it was ruled Williams stepped out of bounds at the OU 11-yard line.

The Sooner defense held from there and Alabama settled for a 22-yard field goal by Graham Nicholson to take the lead 3-0 with 3:23 left in the first quarter.

On Oklahoma's ensuing possession, Arnold ran for 28 yards into Alabama territory.

The Sooners ran a trick play a few plays later, with receiver Brenen Thompson throwing a pass, but it was incomplete to a wide open Bauer Sharp in the end zone.

OU settled for a 39-yard field goal attempt, but Zach Schmit missed it wide left and it stayed 3-0 Bama with 40 seconds left in the first quarter.

The Sooners lead the all-time series vs. Alabama 3-2-1, and are playing the Crimson Tide in Norman for the first time since 2002.
