Mitty star basketball player McKenna Woliczko suffers season-ending knee injury

Archbishop Mitty junior McKenna Woliczko will not return to the court this season.

Woliczko has torn an ACL in her right leg, the five-star recruit announced in an X post on Tuesday morning. She suffered the injury in the second quarter of Mitty’s 61-44 loss to Ontario Christian on Saturday at the Sabrina Ionescu showcase at Carondelet High.

“Unfortunately I do have a torn ACL requiring surgery,” Woliczko wrote in the post. “I will continue to push through this setback.”

Woliczko’s injury is a big blow to a Mitty team that got off to a promising start to the season. The Monarchs won the Sweet 16 Invitational Championship in La Jolla and the Nike Tournament of Champions where they blew out Ontario Christian in the championship game. Woliczko was a big part to Mitty’s success as she led the team in scoring.

The San Jose private school had high hopes of winning its first CIF Open Division title this season after falling short the last three years. Mitty has gone to five state championship games in the last 10 years, but hasn’t won the big game since 2015.
