Report Roma and Fiorentina fans banned from away games for full season
There are reports that Roma and Fiorentina fans will be barred from any away fixtures in Italy for the rest of the season following clashes.
The latest incident involving the two sets of supporters saw a couple of hundred have a running battle in the emergency lane of a motorway on Sunday, when Roma fans were on their way to the game at Torino, and Fiorentina ultras were travelling to Bologna.
Circa 200 got out of their vehicles and wielded weapons as they went at each other, sometimes involving cars that were simply driving past.
Roma and Fiorentina ultras keep causing trouble
Although there were no serious injuries reported, the clash was the final straw for the authorities in charge of policing and safety around football in Italy.
According to news agency Adnkronos, picked up by Sky Sport Italia, this prompted them to impose a total ban on away fixtures for the rest of the season involving Roma and Fiorentina.
Part of the issue was the clubs have not been able to adopt the requested limitations on individual fans who were found to be responsible for violent incidents.
The statement also referenced the clashes that these club’s supporters have engaged in abroad.
