Official: Lazio send Mandas to AFC Bournemouth
Lazio have officially confirmed that goalkeeper Christos Mandas has joined Premier League side AFC Bournemouth on a loan deal for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.
Official: Mandas joins Bournemouth from Lazio
Mandas joins Bournemouth to provide competition for summer signing Djorde Petrovic, who has not fully convinced since joining the Cherries from Chelsea over the summer.
Reports on Tuesday indicate that there is an option to buy clause included in the deal for a fee in the region of €18.5m. This could become an obligation to buy under certain conditions.
Neither Bournemouth nor Lazio have confirmed that there is an option to buy, but the Biancocelesti have wished the Greece international ‘all the best for the future’, indicating that a return to the Stadio Olimpico over the summer is unlikely.
Mandas, originally considered a back-up option to Ivan Provedel, made 20 appearances across all competitions under Marco Baroni last season, but had to revert to his understudy status after the return of Maurizio Sarri over the summer. The Greece international has just one Coppa Italia appearance to his name so far this term.
Lazio have already announced their replacement for Mandas in the form of 21-year-old Edoardo Motta, who has signed on a permanent deal from Reggiana. Juventus have received a 50% cut of the fee.
What Lazio said about Mandas
“S.S. Lazio can confirm that Christos Mandas has completed a loan with an option to buy to AFC Bournemouth, subject to international clearance,” a statement read.
“Mandas departs Olimpico having made 33 appearances: the goalkeeper arrived at the club from OFĪ Creta in the summer of 2023.
“Everybody at the club would like to thank Christos for his contributions and wish him all the best for the future.”
