Medina Vs Curiel In All-Mexican Showdown For WBO Bantam Title This Friday

By Boxing Bob Newman

It will be Mano-a-Mano this Friday at the Domo Alcalde in Guadalajara, Mexico as hometown champ Christian Medina defends against fellow Mexican, former IBF light flyweight Adrain Curiel on DAZN.
This will be Medina’s first defense of the WBO bantamweight title he ripped from Japan’s Yoshiki Takei back in September in Nagoya. For Curiel, this is a massive step up, at least for the little guys, going from 108 lb. limit to 118 lbs. at elite level. Curiel lost his IBF light flyweight title two years ago this month in a rematch with Sivenathi Nontshinga, the man from whom he initially won the title. Two years and ten pounds heavier, the task will be a mighty one. The two combatants met yesterday at the rooftop of the RIU Plaza Hotelin Guadalajara, facing off ahead of tomorrow’s weigh-in, then Friday’s clash for the belt on DAZN.
