Burroughs basketball defeats rival Barstow to reach quarterfinals

After defeating Chaffey on the road 40-32 to open the CIF-SS Division 7 playoffs, the Burroughs girls’ basketball team hosted rival Barstow in the second round on Saturday. It was the second meeting of the season between the Burros and Aztecs, with Burroughs winning by 30 at Barstow on Dec. 16. The second game was closer, with Burroughs going into the half with a six-point lead, 18-12. But a huge defensive half and the offensive finding a way to score in the fourth led the Burros to a 45-21 home win.
