Steinhauser wins Giro 17th stage as Pogacar pulls further ahead

EF Education–EasyPost rider Steinhauser claimed his first professional win after going it alone with around 30km to go and finishing the punishing final Passo del Brocon climb after 159km of riding from Selva di Val Gardena. New nanostrings can vibrate longer than any previously known solid-state object

Researchers from TU Delft and Brown University have engineered string-like resonators capable of vibrating longer at ambient temperature than any previously known solid-state object—approaching what is currently only achievable near absolute zero temperatures. Their study, published in Nature Communications, pushes the edge of nanotechnology and machine learning to make some of the world's most sensitive mechanical sensors.

Retailers reducing prices on thousands of items

Some companies, including Target and Michaels, recently announced they're slashing prices on thousands of items that were seeing higher costs due to inflation. According to the Labor Department, groceries and other household items are cheaper now than last year. CBS News contributor Javier David has more on the trend.
