In a territory occupied by the proximity of other lots, the terrain is protected by materializing its boundary. The landscape is contained within the lot, keeping the beach underfoot. The compression of the dune, between the walls, transforms the terrain into an inhabited house.

Analysis of energy consumption and change structure in major economic sectors of Pakistan

by Qianwen Bai, Muhammad Yousaf Raza

Studying and analyzing energy consumption and structural changes in Pakistan’s major economic sectors is crucial for developing targeted strategies to improve energy efficiency, support sustainable economic growth, and enhance energy security. The logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method is applied to find the factors’ effects that change sector-wise energy consumption from 1990 to 2019. The results show that: (1) the change in mixed energy and sectorial income shows a negative influence... Читать дальше...

Keystrokes: A practical exploration of semantic drift in timed word association tasks

by Sean MacNiven, Ralph Tench

This study investigates the phenomena of semantic drift through the lenses of language and situated simulation (LASS) and the word frequency effect (WFE) within a timed word association task. Our primary objectives were to determine whether semantic drift can be identified over the short time (25 seconds) of a free word association task (a predicted corollary of LASS), and whether more frequent terms are generated earlier in the process (as expected due to the WFE). The association between ABO blood types and peripherally inserted central catheter-related venous thrombosis for patients with cancer: A retrospective 7-year single-center experience and meta-analysis

by Xiao-Hong Wu, Yu Xiao, Ren-Di Tian

Background

This meta-analysis evaluated the association of ABO blood type on central venous catheter-related thrombosis (CRT).

Methods

Data were derived from 8477 patients at Sichuan Cancer Hospital from January 2015 to December 2021 and articles previously published in Chinese and English databases. Data from our hospital were collected by reviewing electronic medical records. Searched databases included CNKI, VIP, Wan Fang, China Biomedical... Читать дальше...

Endorsement of HIV-related stigma among men in Ghana: What are the determinants?

by Sulemana Ansumah Saaka, Roger Antabe

Introduction

Stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV (PLHIV) remain a major barrier to effective HIV prevention. Despite the understanding that the creation of a socially inclusive environment for PLHIV is crucial for the promotion of testing, status disclosure, and treatment uptake, HIV stigma persists. Additionally, evidence suggests the endorsement of HIV stigma may be gender specific. Nonetheless, very little is known about the... Читать дальше...

Combined analysis of single-cell sequencing and bulk transcriptome sequencing reveals new mechanisms for non-healing diabetic foot ulcers

by Ran Chen, Lijun Zou

Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) pose a significant challenge in diabetes care. Yet, a comprehensive understanding of the underlying biological disparities between healing and non-healing DFUs remains elusive. We conducted bioinformatics analysis of publicly available transcriptome sequencing data in an attempt to elucidate these differences. Our analysis encompassed differential analysis to unveil shifts in cell composition and gene expression profiles between non-healing and healing DFUs. Читать дальше...

Plasmodium gametocyte carriage in humans and sporozoite rate in anopheline mosquitoes in Gondar zuria district, Northwest Ethiopia

by Awoke Minwuyelet, Melkam Abiye, Ayalew Jejaw Zeleke, Sisay Getie

Although the overall burden of malaria is decreasing in Ethiopia, a recent report of an unpredictable increased incidence may be related to the presence of community-wide gametocyte-carrier individuals and a high proportion of infected vectors. This study aimed to reveal the current prevalence of gametocyte-carriage and the sporozoite infectivity rate of Anopheles vectors for Plasmodium parasites. A community-based cross-sectional...
