Impact of staff training on university productivity through job satisfaction: A study of ISO 9001- certified institutions

by Shahzaf Iqbal, Dr. Mubashir Hanif, Dr. Sohaib Khan

The study examines the influence of staff training on university productivity through the job satisfaction of academic and administrative staff in ISO 9001-certified universities in Pakistan, utilizing a quantitative research approach. Data were gathered through online surveys using purposive sampling from academic and administrative staff, with analysis performed using SmartPLS-4. The results indicate that staff training significantly... Читать дальше...

Enterococcus spp. in fish: Analysis of the presence and resistance in samples from Tri-City, Poland

by Anita Kukułowicz, Izabela Steinka, Maria Gardocka

The growing concern over antibiotic resistance in foodborne pathogens necessitates comprehensive assessments of its prevalence and associated risks in various food products. The present study aimed to assess the occurrence of Enterococcus spp. in samples of fish purchased at various points of sale in the Tricity region. The selection of products (n = 74) was based on their availability and included both fish caught in the Baltic region and products imported from... Читать дальше...

Exploring the causes underlying the latitudinal variation in range sizes: Evidence for Rapoport’s rule in spiny lizards (genus Sceloporus)

by Kevin López-Reyes, Carlos Yáñez-Arenas, Fabricio Villalobos

Species’ range size is a fundamental unit of analysis in biodiversity research, given its association with extinction risk and species richness. One of its most notable patterns is its positive relationship with latitude, which has been considered an ecogeographical rule called Rapoport’s rule. Despite this rule being confirmed for various taxonomic groups, its validity has been widely discussed and several taxa still lack a formal assessment. Читать дальше...

Share pledge and accounting conservatism in share-pledging firms: Evidence from a natural experiment in China

by Xin Wang, Yue Sun, Yanlin Li, Cuijiao Zhang

This paper focuses on firms in which insiders pledge their shares as collateral for loans. By investigating a natural experiment—China’s enactment of provisions on share reductions that restrict pledge creditors’ cashing-out behavior—we find that pledging firms exhibited more conservative financial reporting after the implementation than non-pledging firms. This effect was pronounced in firms with a higher ratio of pledged shares, a longer maturation period of the pledged shares... Читать дальше...

Synaptic reorganization of synchronized neuronal networks with synaptic weight and structural plasticity

by Kanishk Chauhan, Alexander B. Neiman, Peter A. Tass

Abnormally strong neural synchronization may impair brain function, as observed in several brain disorders. We computationally study how neuronal dynamics, synaptic weights, and network structure co-emerge, in particular, during (de)synchronization processes and how they are affected by external perturbation. To investigate the impact of different types of plasticity mechanisms, we combine a network of excitatory integrate-and-fire neurons... Читать дальше...
