GeM procurement hits Rs 1.24 trn in Q1, set to be world's largest in FY25

With the procurement of goods and services through government's portal GeM crossing Rs 1.24 lakh crore in first quarter of 2024-25, the platform will become world's largest by the end of this fiscal, a senior official said on Thursday. Security agencies seized a Pakistan-bound consignment of banned tear gas chemicals from China at a Tamil Nadu port. Officials claim Pakistan is developing chemical warfare capabilities with China's help. The shipment from Chengdu Shichen Trading Co. Ltd to Rohail Enterprises in Rawalpindi was intercepted and contained 2560 kg of Ortho-Chloro Benzylidene Malononitrile, a controlled substance under international regulations.
