Former Mozambique finance minister on trial in US over 'tuna bond' scandal that spurred debt crisis

The “tuna bond” scandal that shook Mozambique’s economy is washing into a U.S. court. Former Mozambican finance minister Manuel Chang is being tried on charges that he took bribes to secretly commit his country to huge loans that prosecutors say got looted. Chang has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy charges. His lawyer says there’s no evidence that Chang agreed to take payoffs in exchange for loan guarantees. Biological invasions are the main cause of biodiversity loss, but they can also have serious social and economic repercussions. In Europe, over 13,000 non-native (or "alien") species have an established presence, around 1,500 of which are invasive species that have a negative impact on their surroundings. Species of particular concern are the brown rat, raccoon, red swamp crayfish, tiger mosquito, varroa mite, ragweed, and ailanthus, among many others.

NASA cancels its moon rover mission, citing cost overruns and launch delays

NASA is canceling a water-seeking moon rover because of cost overruns and launch delays. The space agency announced the news Wednesday, days before the 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The Viper rover was supposed to launch in 2023 aboard a lander provided by Astrobotic Technology. But extra testing and increased costs kept delaying the mission.
