A top Chinese university fires a professor after a student accused him of sexual harassment

A top Chinese university has fired a professor a day after a graduate student accused him of sexual harassment on social media in a rare public allegation and posted recordings as evidence, drawing widespread support. The woman who said she is studying in a doctoral program at Renmin University of China accused Sunday the professor, an ex-vice dean and former Communist Party representative at the school, physically and verbally abused her. The school concluded Monday after an investigation that the accusations were true and fired the professor.

Secret Service chief will be questioned over security failures before Trump assassination attempt

The Secret Service director is set to testify before a congressional committee as calls mount for her to resign over security failures at a rally where a 20-year-old gunman attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump. Monday's hearing will be Director Kimberly Cheatle’s first appearance before lawmakers since the July 13 Pennsylvania rally shooting that left one spectator dead. Philippine president orders shutdown of Chinese-run online gambling outfits employing thousands.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered an immediate ban on widespread and mostly Chinese-run online gaming operations in the Philippines accusing them of venturing into crimes, including financial scams, human trafficking, torture, kidnapping and murder. Marcos also said in his state-of-the-nation address that the Philippines would press efforts to strengthen its defensive capability by forging security alliances with friendly countries to counter threats to its territorial interests in the South China Sea...
